Michelle Edelman is a 30-year veteran in the field of branding, design, advertising, and publishing. A behind-the-scenes player, her influence has greatly contributed to the success and growth of both established and new brands, as well as advancing the careers of the many individuals and groups that Traffic both represents and collaborates with. Michelle is Norwegian born, daughter of celebrated Norwegian artist, Britt Boutros-Ghali. Her eclectic background created a strong imprint. She was raised and educated in Norway, France, England, Germany and Egypt. In 1982 she moved to the U.S. to attend The University of California Santa Cruz, where she received BA degrees in Social Psychology and Communications. Arriving just in time for the 80’s New York downtown scene, Michelle began her journey into commercial art and publishing. She honed brand marketing and design skills at Cato DesgrippesBeauchantGobé and Lister Butler, worked as an independent photography agent, and was later recruited by Grace Mirabella as the photography editor for Mirabella Magazine. A mutually influential relationship was born through her work with acclaimed art director, Lucy Sisman. During this time a new direction in photography and magazine design was realized with the inception of Allure magazine. In 1993, Michelle joined Lucy to buildSisman Design, a brand imaging and advertising consultancy for the fashion and beauty industries. Seeing a growing gap in the market, Michelle created Traffic Creative Management, a new hybrid in creative consultancy that focuses on representing and curating independent creative talent such as art directors, creative directors, copywriters, fashion illustrators and photographers.
