We embark on each New Year with reflections on the past. What was good, what was bad, and how can we do better. What is most exciting about the start of each year is the notion of a clean slate and a sense of renewed energy. What will this new year bring…For 2014 we predict… 1. A healthier, more positive attitude will prevail. We have learned that there are opportunities even in the worst of times and that a good attitude will make the journey so much better! 2. Increased mindfulness of work and personal time, because last year may have gotten a bit out of control, overworked and stressful. 3. The single punch list will rule over multitasking (at least for one month…). Focus is key! 4. There will be a shift toward renewing human contact in the workplace, as the overriding feeling of work alienation is bugging us all. 5. New ways of promoting artists will unfold. Once again, email blasts and mass marketing (aside from this email of course) are deemed ineffective. We know you’re overwhelmed! We standby the return of printed promotions and a few other secrets we have up our sleeves. 6. Creativity will triumph! As consumer spending dips and competition increases, we predict brands will become more creative and more innovative as we look outside the box to WOW consumers. We are right here, ready and waiting to help! We look forward to talking to you, seeing you often, and getting very creative in 2014! With love and light, The Traffic Team! WHAT’S TRENDING IN ILLUSTRATION NOW Call it a transition, realignment or transformation, the illustration industry is in a state of constant flux. As the face of art and technology evolves, our artists are exposed to an endless array of creative possibilities as well as being influence by the immediate culture around us. Illustrative methods, mediums and strategies for conveying visual information shift at a rapid pace! What does the future of illustration look like!? Here are three trends we are forecasting for 2014… EMPHASIS ON PATTERN ILLUSTRATION WENDY PLOVMAND FOR WWD BEAUTY Colorful print patterns are a fresh and unique way to stand out in the hyper saturated visual market. The infusion of vibrant color and texture is exciting and limitless in application. Women’s Wear Daily jumped on board this train with Wendy Plovmand for the annual WWD Beauty Awards. LET’S GET MOVING ANIMATION AND PHOTO MOTION RULE! There is no question that illustrated animation and photo motion are the way of the future! With the advent of digital publishing and the huge increase in tablet usage, the importance of motion is undeniable. The moving image translates a brand message virally, and most importantly, engages the viewer. This unique user experience captures the essence of a brand in a playful and fun way. This is a big focus for our artists right now. We hope to get moving with you during 2014!
