Nadeesha Godamunne, aka MOKSHINI, known for her eccentric and witty portrayal of fashion characters that push the conventions of fashion illustration. Growing up in New Zealand she excelled in the arts. She pursued her masters in fashion illustration after a fashion design degree at Auckland University of Technology. Mokshini quickly gained recognition for her satirical portrayal of New Zealand Fashion Week, an illustrated publication she created for her thesis. The book won her awards at the annual New Zealand Best Awards. Soon after, she was featured in publications including Martin Dawber’s Great Big Book of Fashion Illustration, Sandra Burke’s Fashion Designer Series, The Fashion Quarterly, The New Zealand Herald and Pro Design.
After graduating with first class honors, Mokshini was invited to instruct fashion illustration at Auckland University of Technology, and two years later was transferred to Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Her yearning for New York however remained. She finally made the big move in 2013, and worked as a textile designer and illustrator for known brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. Her illustrations have been featured on distinguished platforms such as V Magazine, Huffington Post, Fashion Unfiltered, and Afropunk. Mokshini regularly attends New York Fashion Week where she illustrates live for Prabal Gurung, Alice and Olivia, Brother Vellies and Tadashi Shoji.
