Izak Zenou draws fashion the way it actually feels—fast, a little irreverent, and completely sure of itself. There’s no overthinking in his line. He gets the attitude, the rhythm, the mood, and he gets it down before it disappears.
His women aren’t posed—they’re in motion, mid-thought, mid-moment. Long legs, sharp instincts, a sense of humor about it all. There’s elegance there, but it’s never precious. More like instinct. More like knowing.
Over the years, he’s worked with the right people—Chanel, Celine, Estée Lauder, Guerlain, Henri Bendel, Kiton, Lippault, Elle, Travel & Leisure, Marie Claire, Vogue—but the point isn’t the list. It’s that his drawings have become part of how fashion communicates. Not decoration. Not commentary. Just the thing itself, distilled to a few lines that don’t miss.
Izak is currently in residence at Dowling’s at The Carlyle Hotel, NY where he’s spending one year residency drawing guests at and contributing to the visual life of the room. He brings that same sensibility back to the city that embraced him—Upper East Side charm. Paris meets New York.

“Everything inspires me! It can be a gesture, an expression, or a perfect imperfection. It can be the way a piece of clothing translates into body language, the way a ray of light hits a surface, the sound of a word, or a piece of music—I love music. My senses, somehow, connect the dots and communicate directly to my hand. My work is spontaneous and effortless. Sometimes, I get surprised by what I’m drawing, and I like that. It's like whatever I'm drawing is channeled from within me. I always want my drawings to feel lighthearted, relatable, and warm. Through my many years of being a fashion illustrator, working with some really great brands like Henri Bendel, whom I worked with for over 20 years, I realized how my work makes high luxury into something familiar and approachable while still being aspirational. That’s how I see my work. Whatever the project - for licensing it could be a notebook, a scarf, a t-shirt, luggage, and even dinnerware—I like to help brands make high-quality products that are desirable and unique yet truly ownable. For me, this is where art and commerce meet. ”
